Quinns Beach School Senior students have been exploring new methods of representing their learning. The school has been actively developing a “drag and drop” WebPage for all students. This initiative will accommodate the reporting of electronic learning. An example of this learning can be seen in the Senior Years in Education.
Larni Retallack and Steve Hardingham’s Year 5,6,7 students have been exploring the progression of learning explained by Tom March, in relation to their studies of animation. Students began by compiling a Multimedia Scrapbook from information gathered from the Topic Hotlist of websites given by their learning facilitators. Students then completed a Treasure Hunt to find facts given a list of questions to answer along with a Subject Sampler, which allowed them to affectively connect with the information they found.
Students completed these tasks in preparation for a Webquest, in which they worked in teams including a chief animator, script writer, producer and director to write and produce their own animation. Students selected from Web Animation, Claymation and Still animation methods. Students loved exploring the methods of animation and presented the finished work at Assembly and a Film Festival where they competed for a Quinns Beach Oscar.
