Dear Parents,

This term SL4 & SL5 are trialling a new online learning system for our Theme groups.  Part of this learning includes some aspects of their homework being completed over the internet or using it as a research tool.

There are a few things we hope to achieve by doing homework in this way:

• To reduce the amount of paper we send home and photocopy at school
• To increase student independence by allowing them to choose their own homework tasks
• Increase levels of homework participation and motivation
• Increased use of learning technologies

If the students do not have access at home, time is given for them to check at school, as well as a print out showing every available activity.  There shouldn't be any trouble completing the activities without an internet connection but it can help.

The homework is in exactly the same structure as in previous terms, just with more flexibility.  Your child should still be doing at least 15 minutes of their own reading.
