Claymation

Home

  1. Design your characters and backgrounds on paper first

  2. Storyboard the script so that the director knows what to do

  3. If wire is available, create a basic wire frame skeleton for your character.  If no wire is available, have a go creating your character with only the clay (be careful)

  4. Construct your character

  5. Construct any backgrounds you require

  6. Position your character as shown in the storyboard

  7. Have the camera steady (place it on some books, or even better on a tripod) and take your first still shot

  8. Move the character slightly, depending on what you are trying to do, and take your next shot (be careful not to move the camera)

  9. Continue this until your scene is complete

  10. Import your footage into iMovie as a still shot and adjust the timings for each frame

  11. When you are happy with the timings, save your work (you should do that constantly!) and export it as a Quicktime movie.
